Priorities

In response to the charges laid out by Governor Abbott, the Texas Education Agency, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and Texas Workforce Commission partnered to identify three high-priority focus areas for the Tri-Agency Workforce Initiative. Bold action in all three areas is underway to advance the Tri-Agency’s mission and vision.

Priority One: Pathways

Support efficient and flexible pathways to earning degrees, certificates, and other credentials linked to high-wage, in-demand jobs.

Priority in Action

The Texas Regional Pathways Network (TRPN) is a signature initiative of the Tri-Agency that drives efforts to build high-quality education and career pathways. The TRPN is a network of regional cross-sector leadership teams focused on enhancing regional infrastructure to build talent and meet workforce needs.

Priority Two: Support

Ensure students receive the support necessary to succeed at all stages of their education and in their transitions to the workforce.

Priority in Action

The Tri-Agency’s teacher apprenticeship working group is promoting high-quality teaching and learning through the development of a statewide teacher apprenticeship strategy that will improve aspiring teacher recruitment and preparation. This collaborative effort aims to bolster the educator workforce by developing and expanding teacher apprenticeships across the state.

Priority Three: Infrastructure

Create a robust infrastructure for interagency collaboration around common goals, data, and processes to ensure improved student outcomes and to meet employers’ needs.

Priority in Action

The Tri-Agency is collaborating to modernize Texas’ education and workforce data infrastructure, ensuring that data systems are accessible, insightful, and actionable for decision-makers. This effort focuses on enhancing data tools and applications, improving efficiency, expanding responsible data access, and strengthening governance.
